An incomplete copper-alloy and iron knife and knife end cap of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1600. The end cap has a double loop terminal with an integral rectangular shaft with transverse slot for the tag of the knife. The remaining portion of the knife is triangular in plan with a short length of tang to one end.
The end cap is 20.2mm long, 11.3mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 2.7g.
The knife is 69.9mm long, 19.7mm wide, 4.8mm thick and weighs 10.5g.
End-caps such as this example are dated to the 16th century (Geake, 2001).
