A complete and worn Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy French 'Chatel Tournois' jetton of Louis XII (1497-1515) or Francis I (1515-1547), dating to the period 1497-1521. Mitchiner 1988: 242, ref: 742.

The traditional 'Chatel Tours' design became obsolete but was re-introduced during this period.

Obverse: Fictitious legend; A stylised Castle of Tours, without fleurs-de-lis at sides, within a plain inner circle.

Reverse: Fictitious legend; Simple cross pattée within an inner circle, flower of four petals in each angle.

Diameter: 25.0mm. Weight: 4.35g.
