Medieval copper alloy shield-shaped enamelled heraldic harness mount with integral sub-square section attachment rivet. Blue enamel survives well, with some damage in the centre of the shield obscuring the main charge. Some gilding survives around the edges of the shield. Possible blazon: Azure a candlestick in bend between two cross-crosslets fitchy Or (alternatively: Azure two cups bendwise base to base in bend between two cross-crosslets fitchy Or). The arms and identity of the family is unknown for both possible blazons. Length/height 17mm. width 14mm, thickness 11.6mm including stud. Later 13th-14th century.
