An incomplete Neolithic polished flint axehead (c. 4000 BC-c. 2351 BC).
The butt end is missing due to an oblique break.
This axehead is sub-rectangular in plan, roughly 'V'-shaped in side view and pointed oval in cross-section. Towards the truncated oblique butt end it becomes more rounded in cross-section. It has been bi-facially flaked all over and then partially ground and polished. It is possible that the cutting edge broke and was then re-worked and modified for a specific function.
The surfaces, including the break at the butt, have a shiny off-white patina with reddish-brown ferrous stains. The two large flake scars at the base in the first view have gloss.
