DEBITAGE

Unique ID: NLM-11B022

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Grey flint with cortex debitage. Two flakes, one larger [length 43.5mm] and of sub-triangular shape, the other smaller [length: 21.7mm]. Both have had broad flakes struck from their dorsal sides by hard hammer, and both have slightly concave ventral surfaces. The larger flake bears thick white patina indicating it has endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment. The smaller flake lacks this, and was perhaps in a sealed context until recently. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.

Combined Weight: 5.72gms
