An incomplete post Medieval copper alloy buckle dating to c. 1690-1720. The buckle is sub-rectangular in shape with an angled frame with rounded corners outside edge. The outside edges are slightly lobed. The strap bar and pin are missing. At the top of the outside edge where the bar would have been attached there are remains of an iron pin or bar. Parallel to this on the bottom bar a circular pierced hole is present with some iron residue. This could suggest that this may be a shoe buckle which would have had a loop chape with a single integral spike attached, and a drilled central bar. The buckle is almost black in colour which could suggest that the buckle is tinned.

The buckle is 39.1mm in length, 28.8mm in width, 3.3mm in thickness, and weighs 8.52g.

A similar buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 1996, pages 102-103, who suggests a date of c.1690-1720.
