An incomplete post Medieval copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle with missing pin, dating to c.1575-1700 AD. The buckle is sub-rectangular in shape. One loop is oval and the other rectangular. The outside edge and bar are square in cross-section. There are six lobed knops on the outside edge of the rectangular loop, and lobed knops at two symmetrical points on the outer edge of the rounded loop. There is a lobed protrusion either end of the strap bar. The buckle is almost black in colour which could suggest that the buckle is tinned. The back of the buckle is flat and undecorated.

The buckle is 24.3mm in length, 19.1mm in width, 2.2mm in thickness, and weighs 2.92g.

A similar buckle is illustrated in Whitehead 1996, page 92, number 577 which is given a date of c.1575-1700, and is tinned.
