A complete Medieval silver long-cross penny of Henry III (AD 1216-1272). North 988, Class III

The obverse shows a crowned head facing, surrounded by small pellets, without a sceptre. The beard is formed of 3 pellets to each side of a central chin pellet. The inscription reads HENRICVSREXIII. The reverse shows a long-cross voided with 3 pellets in each angle. The inscription is partially lost through wear but NO/RhA/LV[CAS] reads referring to Lvcas the moneyer of Northampton. Therefore the coin is class IIIa/b AD 1248-1250.

The coin is 18.75mm in diameter, 0.79mm thick and weighs 1.5g
