Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch fragment dating to AD 75-175. The object represents the upper half of a trumpet brooch. It consists of a flat circular head plate which has a projecting, incomplete loop on its upper edge. Behind this is a spring of four coils and in front the D shaped cross sectioned bow emerges. The upper surface of the bow has a central vertical ridge and about 10mm down it has a rounded moulding with facetted 'diamond' shaped projections. Below this it is alomst rectangular in cross section and is plain and incomplete.
