Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type. Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings would have held the pin axis bar, the spring and pin are missing. The wings are decorated with two recessed vertical at their ends. There is a loop at the top of the head that holds the external cord of the spring, this then extends down the front of the head forming a short crest, flanking the head are expanded shoulders. The bow is truncated at its mid-section resulting in the loss of the catch plate.
