A small assemblage of Roman ceramic sherds, comprising of two rim sherds, a probable rim sherd, a base sherd and two body sherds. At least five fabrics are represented, with at least as many vessels, although likely more. With one exception, all breaks are fresh. This record discusses three coarseware sherds; see also: SOM-559298, SOM-56E0C1 as well as briquetage, SOM-4874C1, SOM-4826B1, found alongside the rest of the material.
1. A large ceramic redware rim sherd of an orange, sandy fabric. Hard fired and oxidised throughout, containing relativey abundant fine grained, sub-angular quartz inclusions, <2mm, common larger rounded stone inclusions, <3.5mm, and occassional ferrous inclusions. A rim sherd with an everted rim and slight step and the base of the neck on the external surface. Weight: 116.91g.
2. A ceramic greyware flat base sherd. A hard fired fabric with reduced, pale grey, surfaces and an oxidised core. Containing relatively abundant rounded quartz inclusions, <2.0mm, with common angular slate (or other black stone), <1mm, and micaeous flecks visible in the surface. Weight: 26.61g.
3. A ceramic greyware body sherd. Hard fired a sandy fabric reduced pale grey throughout, wheel thrown and with common sub-rounded quartz and ferrous inclusions, <1.5mm. Weight: 14.88g.
