Copper alloy knife handle fragment. A fragment of pressed sheet metal sheathing from close to the butt of a table knife, with an expanded rounded end which probably retained a separate terminal plate or insert, and with three facets on the side here represented. The facets form fields occupied by finely incised cross-hatch, affording grip as well as decorative effect. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1675-1750.
