A sherd of Roman coarseware dating to AD 43-410. The fragment is possibly part of the base of a vessel. The sherd has the remnants of a hole which has been pierced through the vessel. One surface is smooth and flat with evidence of blackening possibly from a fire. The other surface is less smooth and is oxidised red and appears originally to have been coated. The fabric is oxidised on the outer surfaces and the inner core is unoxidised grey. There are numerous micaceous inclusions and many larger flint inclusions. The fragment weighs 7.04g.
