An incomplete copper-alloy possibly Early Medieval (Late Anglo-Saxon) strap end. It has a triangular shape in plan, tapering towards the terminal end. It has a slot for housing the strap running longitudinally for half of its length. The two corners of the attachment end have two circular holes for iron rivets, of which only one corroded with domed head still survives in situ. On of the corners of back plate is now missing. The front face of the terminal has a knop decorated with a possible animal head. The front face is plain and silvered; traces of spread iron corrosion around the surviving rivet. The decoration of the knop is not clear because is corroded.
Although, no close parallels have been found, the strap end is dated to the Late Anglo Saxon period, AD 750-1100.
