A sub-oval shaped pierced lead object of unknown date, which was probably used as a weight. This artefact weighs 19.59g (0.69oz). The external oval dimensions are 31.7mm x 25.9mm. Both sides are uneven but slightly convex giving the artefact a maximum thickness of 5.0mm. An irregular shaped sub-oval aperture is present at the approximate centre of the object. This measures 8.3mm x 5.4mm. The lead around the edge of this aperture is recessed creating a narrow ledge of c.1.6mm width. If this object was not used to weigh other items and instead was held in place, to something else, with use of a separate rivet or nail, this recessed ledge would have allowed a rivet or nail head to sit flush with the artefact surface surrounding it.
