Iron possible strap. Wrought iron strap with an oval end, and with sides tapered to achieve an elongated leaf or lanceleote form. A stout rivet or bolt of shank diameter c.9mm and head diameter c.30mm across [as expanded by corrosion] appears to have attached this object to its setting. Probably building ironwork set into wood, and its poor condition perhaps exacerbated by burning. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1800.
