Medieval (c. 1270-1450) folding strap clasp element: The copper alloy folding clasp plate is a 'keyhole' shape with a separate rectangular bar across the linear terminal. The plate has three copper alloy rivets which protrude on the reverse. The surface of the mount has a dark green patina.
The mount measures 14.92mm, 13.34mm wide, 4.79mm thick and weighs 1.16g.
Egan and Pritchard (2002) illustrate a similar example in Figure 76 and date these clasps to the late 13th to mid-15th century.
