Unique ID: BH-2FF481

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A copper-alloy stud dating to the late sixteenth or seventeenth century AD. The stud possesses an assymetrical plate which is hemispherical in section. It comprises a lozenge which extends at one end to an elongated oval. The upper surface of the plate has integrally-cast decoration, although corrosion products make this almost impossible to discern. From the underside of the plate, there extend two tapering attachment lugs which are bent back on themselves. For parallels, see Read (2001) p. 35, no. 292. The stud measures 32mm in length, a maximum of 12mm in width and 7mm in thickness.
