Medieval copper alloy buckle: oval frame with outside edge and deep rectangular-sectioned sides and a separate bar set in holes in the ends; broken flat-sectioned pin; rectangular sheet plate with pin slot, frame recesses and breaks across twin rivet-holes at attachment-end. Frame 23 x 27.5mm. Plate, extant length 29mm, width 20.5mm. Overall length 47mm. Post-Roman buckle frames with separate bars are uncommon. Cf. a large flimsy example from a mid 14th-century context in York (Ottaway and Rogers 2002, 2893-4, fig. 1469 no. 14099). Probably 14th or 15th century.
