An incomplete, early medieval, copper alloy, strap end, with silver foil, AD.750-1000. The object comprises a rectangular copper alloy plate, the distal end of which is tapered to a rounded point. The top of the strap end is damaged and originally would have had a central rivet hole, of which only a part remains. The front face is decorated with intertwined beasts and would originally have had a silver coating. Two parts of the silver remain, they are pointed oval in shape and correspond to the ridges of one of the beasts, perhaps suggesting a bichrome colour scheme.
