Pottery. A coarse fabric, externally oxidised and internally reduced, with abundant calcareous and flint inclusions to length 3mm, probably a hand made vessel. This sherd was kindly examined by Sandra Firth of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. The inclusions may have been intended to improve the resistance of a vessel to the thermal shock of heating and cooling. Fiercely abraded. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 100BC - AD 43.
