A complete post-Medieval silver cufflink element or button (c. 1725-c. 1800).

This single element is octagonal in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The edge is down-turned. It has a soldered silver flat wire attachment loop at the rear. At the front, engraved decoration consists of a scalloped octagonal border close to the edge. In the centre is a flower head (?rose) with four main petals alternately with four smaller petals or calyx.

The front is worn and a portion of the edge is fractured. Grooves on the down turned edge may be file marks.

Length: 17.4mm; width: 16.4mm; height: 1.8mm; height including loop: 4.0mm. Weight: 1.84g.
