A complete Medieval copper alloy mount dating to c. 1350 - c.1400. The mount is sub-rectangular in form with trefoil ends. The front of the mount is convex and narrows towards the centre then flares back outwards. It is decorated with a symmetrical motif which is made of one sheet which has been die-stamped. The decoration consists of trefoil ends which are formed by way of two vertical grooves. Joining the two trefoil ends are two transverse horizontal grooves in the centre of the mount. In the centre of these grooves the complete rivet rests still in-situ. The reverse of the mount is concave with the rivet projecting through. The rivet has a circular attachment at its terminal. The mount has a dark green patina.
The mount is 15.6mm in length, 11.7mm in width, 4.9mm in thickness, and weighs 0.90g.
A very similar mount can be seen in Read, 2001, page 14, fig.8, no. 94. This mount was found in found in South-West Wiltshire and was dated to c. 1350 - c.1400.
