Description: Incomplete gilded silver finger-ring. The bezel is divided into three concave panels by four transverse ridges. The central panel has a cross-hatched design within a line border. The panel on either side has a quatrefoil motif. The shoulders have engraved geometric design and both terminate in an old break.
Dimensions: Extant diameter: 17.5mm, width: 7.1mm, maximum thickness: 2.5mm, minimum thickness: 1.1mm, weight: 1.5g.
Discussion: Rings of this form are closely related to iconographic rings bearing images of saints of the same date. Oman (1974, 22) proposes that they may have functioned as guard rings to prevent more valuable rings from dropping off the finger.
