An incomplete and highly abraded Roman copper alloy hinged T-shaped brooch of uncertain sub-type possibly a developed 'T' shape or headstud, probably dating to c. AD 50-150. The surviving brooch comprises of the upper bow and partial head, with the lower bow, pin and catchplate missing.
The bow has a roughly oval cross section: it is fairly flat at the rear and more convex at the front. It curves rearward as it extends downward from the head, before terminating in a worn break. Viewed from the front the bow gradually tapers from top to bottom. No decorative detail survives.
With such a small, abraded fragment any identification must be tentative, however in its general form the fragment resembles a T-shaped brooch (See Bayley & Butcher, 2004: 158, 166-168), with the possible presence of a headloop suggesting an attribution as a developed T-shaped brooch.
