A late Medieval - early Post Medieval cast copper-alloy vessel handle from a posnet or skillet dating 14th - 16th century.

Description: The handle is wide at one end and tapers and sharply curves to the other (the outsid eof the handle) The break is jagged and occured towards the body of the vessel. The handle is decorated with a ring and dot motif conisting of 5 double rings with a central dot; these motifs are the most common type of decoration found on posnet handles. The underside is heavily corroded with extensive orrosion pitting. The copper-alloy has a heavily motted dark to medium green patina that also extends of the break of the handle.

Measurements: Length: 87.32mm Width: 22.34mm Thickness: 7.09mm Weight: 78.09g.

Discussion: Similar examples can be seen in Margeson (1993:90-91 fig. 562 & 563). With a number recorded on the PAS database such as LON-8C91F2.
