Grey flint scraper. A roughly L-shaped flake with long narrow parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a slightly hollowed ventral surface, both characteristic features of flint work of the later Mesolithic period. Misty white patina has developed over struck faces, suggesting the object has endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. This patina is interrupted by short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect, with limited subsequent adventitious chipping, probably to form a notched scraper. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.
