Medieval (mid-14th-century to 14th centuries) composite strap end: The copper alloy strap end is composed of a cast outer face and a separate back plate. The strap end is an elongated triangle with a broken terminal. The opposite terminal tapers and then has a large knop with a collar and an oblique linear groove on either side. The reverse has an incomplete back plate. The strap end has an abraded mid-green patina.
The strap end measures 24.2mm long, 9.52mm wide, 3.16mm thick and weighs 1.98g.
This strap-end is a composite strap and Egan and Pritchard (2002), illustrates a similar strap end, No. 614 which dates from the mid-14th-century to 14th centuries.
