An incomplete copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) sleeve clasp of Hines form C1, Mildenhall type. It has a sub-rectangular shape with a slight concave curve to the back face. The rear edge is quite straight and mantains traces of the two original sewing lugs, now not preserved. The front edge is fragmentary and it has a recess in the central part which is the remains of the catch plate. The front face has a chip-carved decoration depicting two bird's heads facing outward and curling on their necks. The inside of the carved lines still preserve much of the original gilding.
The clasp is assigned to the Class C1 of Hines (1993 pp. 67-68), late 5th to the beginning of the 6th century AD.
