A group of three clay tobacco pipes fragments dating to the 17th century.
1] A clay pipe bowl with a flat heel. A Bristol and Wiltshire type dating to c. 1640 to 1670. The incuse mark on the heel is GEO/RGE/BVT in three lines. George Butt was a maker in Shaftesbury. See Atkinson D R ,1969, "Clay Tobacco Pipes found in Shaftesbury", DNHAS Proc Vol. 91, 210-211, figure 3 No. 16

See Atkinson D R ,1969, "Clay Tobacco Pipes found in Shaftesbury", DNHAS Proc Vol. 91, 213 - 214, figure 5 No. 4
3] A clay pipe bowl with a flat heel and an incised line below the rim. Bristol and Wiltshire type dating to c.1640 - 1670. The incuse mark on the heel is a quatrefoil with a raised pellet in each foil.
