A complete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver sceat (710-740). Series H, Type 39 Cc1 (Abramson 2006: 16, 58 and 99; North 1994: 64, ref: 96, plate 1, no. 44). Struck at Hamwic (Southampton).
Obverse: Pecking bird in beaded foliage, right, wing raised, feet splayed, all enclosed in beaded circle.
Reverse: Celtic cross encompassing four rosettes, rosette at centre of cross, no pellet cross, all enclosed in beaded circle.
Diameter: 11.8mm. Weight: 0.86g.
