SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: KENT-75B846

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A near complete flint scraper likely Neolithic-Early Bronze age date (c. 4000 BC - 1000 BC).

Description: The scraper is sub triangular in shape and formed from a tertiary flake. There is extensive short scaled semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch along the mesal (sides), which comes in from both the ventral and dorsal facings to create a very slightly curved point. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are very irregular and has been extensively, heavily struck and reshaped removing much of the bulb etc. The bulb of percussion and the conchoidal fractures are very pronounced which suggests hard hammer striking. The flint is an off white mottling through to light brown colour with some iron staining.

Measurements: 39.41mm long, 35.46mm wide, 13.05mm thick and 16.53g in weight.
