An incomplete copper alloy Brooch of Roman date (AD 25-65). The object is the lower portion of a Langton Down type brooch. The object comprises the lower portion of the bow, which is rectangular in form, triangular in section and with a rounded foot. It has moulded decoration a central vertical rib decorated with narrow vertical grooves or flutes on the edges. On the back face of the foot is an integrally cast catchplate. This is triangular in form with a folded outer edge that. It has an openwork centre aperture which is triangular in shape.
The metal is a light green in colour with a slightly pitted patina
