An incomplete copper alloy Figurative Mount of Medieval date (AD 1300-1500). The mount is in the form of a stylised fleur de lis / lys.
The object is irregular in plan, and rectangular in cross section. It has a central upright plume with a chevron shaped ending (V shaped). The two side plumes are curled downwards, recurved, with a semi-circular hole in their centre. The base is flat with three smaller plumes of similar form to the upper portion with shorter plumes. The back is plain and undecorated. Two attachment spikes are present. These have a circular cross section, and taper towards the tip. One terminates in an old and abraded break.
The metal is a mid green colour, with a slightly pitted patina.
A similar mount was recorded by Egan (2002, 201, #1084) from an undated layer in the excavations of the Medieval waterfront in London.
