A complete post-Medieval silver cufflink element or button (c. 1725-c. 1800).

This single element is octagonal in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The edge is down-turned. It has a soldered silver wire attachment loop at the rear. At the front, engraved decoration consists of a scalloped octagonal border close to the edge. In the centre is a flower head (?rose) with four main petals alternately with four smaller petals or calyx.

The front is slightly worn.

Length: 13.1mm; width: 12.7mm; height: 2.5mm; height including loop: 5.0mm; diameter of wire loop: 0.9mm. Weight: 0.74g.
