An incomplete copper alloy Roman bow-and-fantail brooch (AD c. 50 - 150) similar to examples illustrated in Hattatt (2000; 315, nos 818 and 817). The brooch is missing part of head loop, pin and curve of catchplate. The bow has been badly bent out of shape. The terminal end is decorated with three triangular indents with two grooved lines heading up the bow to the head of the brooch. The object is covered in a green patina with patches of light brown. Length 28.3mm, width 11.4mm, thickness 11.7 and weight 2.89g.
