Unique ID: SF-086080

Object type certainty: Certain

A fragment of a Merovingian copper-alloy Early Medieval Radiate headed brooch. It is rectangular in shape and has a recessed back face. The front face is decorated with a longitudinal ridge band marked with four ring-and dot elements; on each sides of the ridge a moulding featured by a raised zig-zag line between a pair of raised border, runs along the fragment lenght. The concavity on the back face ends just at the edge of the fracture where there was probably the catch plate.

For an almost complete example (different material though) see DENO-6D3516 in the PAS database. The date suggested is the 500-600 AD
