Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch of Bayley and Butcher 2004, Group C. The bow is decorated with three moulded horizontal ribs, the central one flanked by two lower thinner ones, as decoration at the top of the vertical portion of the bow. This moulding is on the outer face and occurs in lower profile on the inside of the bow . Below this decoration the bow tapers slightly, with what appears to be remnant cross hatched decoration on either outer edge, and is sub-triangular in section. The bow terminates with a collared knop foot. The reverse of the lower portion of the bow has a solid catchplate. The top of the bow, head, hinge mechanism, pin, and part of the catch plate are all missing. Dates to between c75 and c175 AD.
The length is 55mm, the width is 12mm, thickness 11mm, and the weight 10.45g.
