Copper-alloy hook or mount of probable medieval date (c. 1000 - 1500 AD). The hook consists of a sub-triangular plate and integral long, back-curving sharp spur. The plate tapers from the spur end, bulging slightly in the middle. It bends very slightly in the middle so that it points down. The spur also tapers to its point; it is rectangular in section. There is no evidence of any rivets or any other method of attachment, although it is possible that a further hook was soldered onto the narrow end of the plate. The spur is perhaps too long for the object to be interpreted as a mount, although this remains a possibility. If it is interpreted as a hook it may be a part of a light fixture or house fitting. Identification must be tentative until parallels are found. The object has a matt light green patina. It is 33.80mm in length, 12.29mm at maximum width and 2.37mm thick. The length of the spur is 18.60mm. The object weighs 3.58g.
