Late Bronze age-Early Iron Age pottery with rim and wall dating to c.800BC. Fragment is roughly square in shape and consists of the rim and shoulder of a large storage jar. Fabric is a reduced grey colour and has a large number of coarse inclusions, some fragments of shell but mostly grey flint. There is some orange discoloration from the burial environment and the upper surface has been worn in one corner where it has been exposed to river erosion. The pot is undercorated but preserves some of the marks from the process of smoothing the clay into shape. Jon Cotton has seen the sherd and dated it to the end of the Bronze Age, Early Iron Age (Pers Comm.)
