Copper alloy buckle. Cast single looped or D-shaped buckle with moulded vegetal decoration on its frame with ornate moulded knops at either end of a narrowed strap bar. The latter is clenched by an engrailed and slotted plate of thickness 1mm with fishtail-shaped inner end. The plate is folded around the strap bar, and bears moulded vegetal decoration matching that on the buckle frame on one side only. Two rivets of diameter 2.5mm secured the plate to the strap. The plate has been reset, probably onto a new strap, as the vegetal moulded decoration now appears on the reverse, rather than on the same side as it is featured on the frame. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1450-1550.
