A fragment of sheet copper alloy, probably dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1000-1500). The fragment is now roughly square in shape, with a geometric design of three inter-connecting incised semi-circles on the face. The two vertical edges have been cut following the lines of the deocration on the face of the object, whilst the two horizontal edges are straight. The top edge has a flattened lip measuring 6.44mm in length and the lower edge has a mottled border from which the semi-circles extend. The semi-circles are double lined and with dashed or zig-zag incised decoration in between. There is also evidence of gilding on the face of the object. The reverse is undecorated. The sheet has been bent upwards to form a rough V-shape.

Two similar unidetified objects with similar desgins have been recorded on the PAS database: KENT-AA9A22 and LIN-481267 and both have been dated to the Early Medieval to Medieval periods. Comparing the object in question here to these examples a tentative Medieval date has been applied.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 32.74mm in length, 36.24mm in width, 1.72mm in thickness and 6.72g in weight.
