A complete cast and wire copper alloy dress hook of the early post medieval period dating to AD 1500-1600.
The hook is in the form of a trefoil of domed bosses with a smaller central boss. The larger bosses are separated by three bars radiating from the central boss. These bars have triangular ends.
On the reverse there is a hook and loop which have been soldered onto the object. Evidence of solder is present covering most of the reverse.
The hook weighs 5.11g and is 20.89mm wide. It is 5.02mm thick and 27.24mm long (including part of the curve of the protruding hook).
Similar examples can be found in Read, B.,2008, p73-83. Early Post Medieval Class D Type 6; Fig 251 is the closest in form but without the triangular ends to the bars.
