Lead probable spindle whorl. A very distressed annular object with a central aperture of diameter c.10mm; probably a biconvex whorl which has been either miscast or, more likely, melted. Encrusted and patinated. A biconvex form and, to the eye of faith, the ghost of pelleted decoration on one side, point to an affinity with early post-medieval whorls of biconvex form. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
