A complete cast copper alloy, strap distributor or harness fitting, Probably dating to the 10th/11th century AD. This artefact has a D-shaped cross-section with a lozenge-shaped terminal at the centre of which is a sub-rectangular aperture. On the lozenge-shaped terminal, there are rounded protruding knobs at each angle. These fittings are usually double ended with symmetrical terminals but this example has a smooth ring springing from a thickening of the shaft. Through this ring is looped an iron loop. Whether this extra loop is part of the original fitting or relates to a secondary use is difficult to be certain of. The underside of the artefact is flat with no decoration. The strap distributor is in a slightly worn but fair condition.
