A complete but worn square-shaped lead weight or bag seal of post-medieval date.The weight is flat, square-shaped with an iron piercing through one corner. The front contains a central design of the Royal Coat of Arms of United Kingdom (AD c. 1603-present) depicting a crown at the top, an English lion on the right and a heavily worn Scottish unicorn on the left. Underneath is the number 8. The central image is set within a circle with a crenelated outer edge. Encircling the central design is a small border containing a heavily worn inscription which can be read as: [...]ISLA[....]. The weight is an off white colour. Suggested date: 1603-1900.
