A copper alloy suspension loop from a late medieval to early post-medieval purse bar (1450-1550). The loop is a sub-oval 'tear drop' shape, narrowing as it meets a conical base measuring 6.3mm in diameter at the top and expanding to 7.3mm over a length of c.7mm. At the wider end there are traces of the integral rivet that would have attached it to the central block of the purse bar, c.4.5mm in diameter.
The loop itself is D-shaped in cross-section, measuring 5.9x3.2mm and being flat to the inside surface.
The object is dark brown in colour and smooth where the patina remains intact, otherwise it is green and rough to touch. It measures 38.7mm in length, 19.1mm in max.width, 7.3mm in thickness and weighs 8.71g.
