An incomplete composite copper-alloy and iron probable Roman padlock dating to the period 43 to 410.
Description: The padlock remains as the as most of the iron and copper-alloy bolt and part of the padlock case. The bolt is formed from two prongs with a collar that would align with the case and an incomplete curved arm likely part of the securing hasp. The prongs are covered in iron corrosion likely part of the original locking mechanism. The case only remains as part of the convex decorative front. Despite being damaged what remains is in good condition.

Discussion: This object is likely originally a figurative roman padlock similar to SUR-302076 and are rare finds for Britain general date 1st to 3rd century AD.
