An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type dating to the 1st century AD.
The head and foot of the brooch has been damaged in recent times. The wings are rounded and incomplete. The brooch tapers from the damaged head in width towards the foot. A vertical decorative panel runs down the centre of the object which is decorated with transverse grooves.
Dimensions: 24mm in length, 12mm in width, 2.30g
Examples of brooches with similar decoration can be found in Hattatt (2000), p300, fig.159.
