A complete gold Early-Medieval Merovingian pseudo-Imperial tremissis of King Gundomar, struck in name of Justinian I, dating to the period AD 524-535.

Obverse: DN IVSIVIIIANVS P P A, Diademed and cuirassed bust right.

Reverse: ICTORIA AAVGGG(?A), Victory walking right looking left holding wreath and globe cruciger.

Mintmark: G/*//CONO(?B)

Martin Allen has liaised with Dr Arent Pol, who comments (pers. com.): 'This is indeed a tremissis of the Burgundian kingdom, struck in the name of emperor Justinian under king Gundomar, 524-535, as can be seen from the letter G in the field on the reverse. For this variety with obverse legend ending in PPA and reverse ICTORIA AVCCCA, now known from five specimens, there is no exact match to be found in standard works of reference, but the next best indication could be Belfort 1177var, 5309var.'
